Just open the package and expose the Warmer to air, no need to shake, then insert into pocket or glove. The Warmer will gradually release heat for over 8 hours duration. During proper use, the Warmer will maintain an average temperature of 56°C (133°F) and maximum temperature of 62°C (144°F) ensuring steady heat.
